Strange Choice

Dr. Henry Morgentaler was being interviewed on Canada AM this morning, regarding a movie, "Choice", that will be aired this evening, praising the virtue of this man who almost singlehandedly fought for abortion rights in Canada.

When he was asked what he thought of the movie, he tried defending his character by saying that he was disappointed that it didn’t show more of his personal life, because he believes that he is a good and gentle man. He mentioned that he is proud of his work, because he believes access to abortion is simply a matter of justice.

Then he said, "Crimes of violence have certainly decreased since the right to abortion in this country."

I stood, watching the television with my mouth open in disbelief. "Crimes of violence have DECREASED?" Pardon me?

It *may* be true (and I am not sure that it is) that a man is less likely to hit a woman if she is no longer carrying his unwanted baby, but (NEWS FLASH!!) crimes of violence happen every single time a baby is torn from his mother’s womb. I’d say that it is violent to cut off a limb, to crush a skull, to fill one’s environment with saline solution and burn one’s lungs out...these actions are violent beyond belief, and if done to an adult, or a child already fortunate enough to reside OUT of the womb rather than in it, then the so called "caregivers" would be prosecuted with the full extent of the law.

Morgentaler must be schizophrenic - he certainly thinks in a double-minded manner.
"I am a gentle man." Yet he has killed many thousands of babies. Our world is reeling at the devastation caused by the tsunami. People are saddened and moved to give generously, to pray, to even go to the stricken areas and serve -- yet far more babies have been destroyed through violently ripping them from their own mothers' wombs.

"I am proud of my work." What on earth is there to be proud of? He has enabled selfish women to live self-centredly rather than giving themselves selflessly to another person. Because of his work, there are abortion centres across our country, and hundreds of babies are killed every day. He ought to be ashamed of his work.

I do pray that the Lord will open the eyes of Canadian women to see that this man is not a gentle, kind, "saviour" who has enabled them to have "choice" to live their lives more easily. I pray that they will see that he is delusional, that he is no different from those who tortured prisoners during the holocaust, and that he should be filled with shame.

In Christ,
Janet

Amen and amen! I agree wholeheartedly with you Janet.

It is absolutely astounding and baffling to try to understand the reasoning of people like this...

God will give the increase...in His time. Meanwhile, we that understand things from a true Biblical pov need to stand and fight on all fronts - government, social, etc. The best way for us mothers is to proudly (but not pridefully ;-) ) *have* children (whatever amount) and then raise those children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord."

You are an inspiration Janet! :-)

(I'm trying to head out the door as I write this! LOL Hope I've made some sense... ;-) )

Janet you are right -- and it is documented -- that open access to abortion does nothing but degrade the culture into more and more depravity. God help us all.

Thanks, Tamara and Anne, for your comments. The thing that gets to me is the *thinking*..."I am gentle", yet he kills babies. "I am proud", yet God will seek His vengeance for his prideful actions. And to think that it probably never crossed this man's mind that abortion in itself is the epitome of violence.

It truly does boggle the mind.

It also makes me thankful that God, in His great mercy, took out my heart of stone and put in me a heart of flesh. He changed me and gave me eyes to see. If it were not for that great work, I would likely have heartily agreed with Henry Morgentaler.

There but for the grace of God...

In Christ,
Janet

Your blog was attached to a forward i received in hotmail and to tell you the truth i was enraged by it. Not because your ideas are wrong, but because you take the case that other people's ideas and desicions are wrong.

I'm not trying to bash your ideas at all, I have a different understanding and perspective on the issue at hand.

I understand you are religous, that is very clear. Why are you passing judgement on other people's opinions and decisions.

If God wants to smite the "murderers" for their actions why are you involving yourself in something that has nothing to do with you, from what I understand, Jesus is second-in-command.

Pro-choice does not mean that if abortion becomes legal that everyone can go out and "murder" their unborn, it means that if a woman wants to or thinks she wants to end a pregnancy she has that 'choice' without breaking the law.

I read somewhere in your blog (I'm not sure if it was your thoughts or from an article) "the location of the murder doesn't matter, whether it's in the kitchen or the bedroom". So then i assume all people who share this idea are vegetarians. If location doesn't matter than neither does species.

Although those who are religious will say "but God provided the animals for us". I don't remember anywhere in the Bible where it says and God said to Adam "I give these animals to you to look over and consume."

And I'm not saying that vegetarianism is the way to go, I'm saying that people should be able to make the choice as to whether or not they want to.

If you want consistancy, here's consistancy, if you want all murder to be illegal then make it so, don't send your boys and girls off to war. Don't go to the market and buy meat, or eggs or dairy products. If killing is wrong, it should stop period, no ifs, ands or buts, or any exceptions. Or... would you prefer to have the choice. The choice to join the army and fight in wars. The choice to go out and eat what you please. The choice to have a child if you want.

I don't know if my ideas are right, but I do know that everyone has the right to make their own desicions and their own mistakes without others condemning them for it.

Only God shall have the final say, and neither you, nor myself will know if we were right until we come before Him and are judged accordingly.

Thus, I will leave all women with their own choice, their own LEGAL choice and vote yes on the matter.

Anonymous, I will leave the tangents alone and stick to the main point: abortion is murder. It is the killing of a viable human being, whose heart beats, who feels pain and tries to avoid the knife of the abortionist as it comes near, and whose only crime is that his life will inconvenience someone else's life.

I suppose if a person thinks that is okay, it's a small step to consider the elderly an inconvenience. Grandma is getting old and starting to drool...let's just cut her up and throw her away. And we won't bother to give her painkillers, because she'll be dead in a few minutes, anyway.

If you read the following article, you will see that politicians have drafted laws that require abortion clinics to inform patients seeking abortions that a fetus (baby) can feel pain, and to offer the fetus anesthesia.

As far as the eating of meat not being in the Bible, go find a Bible and read Genesis 9:3, where God told Noah "Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. And as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything." Just a few verses down, God continues, "And for your lifeblood I will require a reckoning: from every beast I will require it and from man. From his fellow man I will require a reckoning for the life of man."

I wouldn't want to be in the shoes of an abortionist standing before a Holy, Awesome, Terrifying God.

Would you?
